- The first thing you need to do is buy the emulator on the market ($5.99). You can scan the QR Code at the bottom of this page, or simply type in psx in the search bar on the market from your phone.

- Next you need to get the BIOS file HERE after you download the BIOS file put it on your SD Card. Psx4Droid will ask you to speficy a BIOS file at the top under "Setttings." Scroll to where you put the BIOS file and select it. You NEED this file to be able to play any games. Without it you can't do anything really.

- Now you need to download some ROMS. This is where it gets a little bit legal sensitive. It IS ILLEGAL TO DOWNLOAD GAMES THAT YOU DO NOT OWN! This is also where most people are having problems, so pay attention. You can find most ROMS by simply searching psx roms in Google. (Emuparadise or Doperoms) These are the file types that this emulator says it supports:

  • BIN

  • ISO

  • PBP (eboot)

  • IMG

  • Z

  • Znx

(Anything other then THESE formats WILL NOT WORK)

- A lot of people have been having issues with some games, and their formats. I personally like using the PBP files, because they are used for hacked PSPs to be able to play PSX games on them. You should also be good using .IMG files. Just search around online, and you can find them.

- Once you get some ROMS downloaded (on average they are going to be anywhere from 150mb to 500mb, so they might take a while to get) simply copy the ROM over to your SD Card in folder that you can find easily.

- Open Psx4Droid, and find the ROM that you just copied over to your SD Card.

- ENJOY!

FOR PEOPLE HAVING ISSUES WITH .Bin FILES:

- Go HERE and download ECM under the Windows section of the page and extract the UNECM portion of the EMC download to the desktop

- Grab the Rom in ECM format from the desktop and place it into the UNECM file now on the desktop, it will start making a copy of the Rom with the correct file type and will pull up a small black screen showing you that it is converting it to the correct format with a percentage ticking away to 100%

- Now that you have the PSX Rom in the correct bin format, you can place it in the newly created PSXoid folder and your emulator will now be able to see it! (Credit: ap3604)

GAMES THAT WORK/DON'T WORK

FF7: Works good, sound is best I have heard too.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4: Good framerate, but the textures are really mess up. The sound is pretty good.

Twisted Metal 4: The screen only fills up half of my phone and you need R2 to play. Don't get this!

Madden 99-2003 (NCAA too): Does not get past the EA Sports intro.

Madden 98 (NCAA too): Does not load games after the menu.

Blitz 2000: Player models don't load, shadows do though. Playable I guess.

NFL Gameday 2002: Works great, sound is a little messed up, but it didn't bother me. Finally a football game that works!

Metal Gear Solid: Won't start the beginning introduction movie.

Crash Bandicoot: Good framerate, sound is OK.

Pryro: Works very well, sound is actually pretty good too.

Resident Evil 3: Everything works good, just make sure to mess with the controls so that it is playable.

Gran Torismo 2: Single player (time trials) work well, but with multiple cars, the game lags too much. Sound is bad too.

Tekken 3: Sound is crackling and is really SLOW!

NFS 3 Hot Pursuit: Works great (unlike Gran Torismo 2), sound is alright. Tilt controls work pretty well too if you want to use them.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3: Wont' start.

Crash Team Racing: Only sound plays for me.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
: Same as 4--good sound, but textures are all funny. Very playable though.

Medal of Honor Underground: Probably the best one yet. Everything works great, however, the game itself is just "OK".

Grand Theft Auto 2
: Similar to Blitz--the cars don't load, but it is playable I guess.

Digimon World 3: Works well, sound is funky at times.

Madden 2005: Won't get past the EA intro.

Grand Theft Auto
: Works really well. Sometimes the music doesn't work, but other than that, it is great!

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1: Same as 2 and 4.
